Netflix

If you see a error notification on your Netflix account that says "Your Payment is Pending", then something is definitely wrong with your last payment with the streaming service. The error code is usually called "Error Code E101" or "Your Account is on Hold Because of a Problem with Your Last Payment."

If your payment is pending on Netflix, that means your account is on hold because of an error with the last payment or monthly billing that tried to occur on the account. In other words, the error message means Netflix couldn't process payment for your account and this usually happens for several reasons. Some of the reasons are stated:

  • Your payment method (such as debit card or credit card) might not have enough money for the required charges.
  • The payment method (e.g Netflix GiftCard) you used might has expired or it's no longer valid.
  • Your bank or card provider did not approve the monthly charge.
  • The payment information given to Netflix doesn't match what your bank has on file.
  • US only: The credit card zip code you provided to Netflix does not tally with the one listed with your issuance.

However, it's important to note that other pending charges or authorizations can affect the available balance on your card. That's to say, when your payment is pending on Netflix, you might got charged for it, but the payment might not be enough to complete the service fee. In this case, you need to get in touch with your financial institution for chargeback.

But if the issue is not attached to insufficient balance, consider using another payment option.

While some payment options will direct you to their website to complete the update process, you also need to note that Netflix will automatically retry failed payments periodically over the course/change of your billing cycle.

However, if you have successfully updated your payment method, but the payment pending error still shows on your Netflix account, try clicking "Back" or "Refresh" to refresh the system and go back to streaming content library. If retrying your payment or trying a different payment option is unsuccessful, then you need to contact Netflix support.

2. Contact your Bank

If you use debit card or credit card to make payment on your Netflix account, the only reasons you can get pending transaction are subjected to insufficient balance, expired card, unmatched credit/debit card details or your card issuance doesn't support Netflix but it's rare.

However, contact your card issuance or financial institution if your debit card have sufficient balance and you're debited but the payment doesn't reflect on your Netflix account. The institution will see to the situation and file a chargeback.

If you have insufficient balance and it's charge but didn't complete the service fee on Netflix, you'll still get pending payment error on the account. In this case, you also need to contact your bank to chargeback the fund you've already lost to the process.
