Enviro Automotive has introduced the Dayun Yuehu S5 in South Africa, marking it as the country's most affordable electric car priced at R399 900.
This mini-SUV features a 31.7kWh battery, offering a range of 330 km, and is equipped with a 35kW electric motor.
It supports both AC and DC charging, with a recharge time of about four hours on a standard outlet and less than an hour on a fast charger.
The Dayun Yuehu S5 is expected to make electric vehicles more accessible to a broader audience in South Africa, significantly undercutting competitors like the BYD Dolphin by over R100,000.
The pricing makes the Dayun Yuehu S5 accessible to a wider audience, especially since many new vehicles sold in the country are priced between R300,000 and R400,000.
Dayun, a company originally from China known for motorcycles and commercial vehicles, expanded into electric cars with the launch of the Yuehu S5 in 2017.
